Do you want to be a referee in Lundaspelen? 

Cool! Each year we have 120-140 referees in Lundaspelen from different countries all over the world.

Lundaspelen is for referees who want to have fun, get to know other referees and improve as a referee and once you become a part of the Lundaspelen referee family you will want to continue to come back year after year! 

Registration

Registration typically opens beginning of September each year and you can then register through the tournament home page (link is accessible on the start page once registration opens).

When

  • The tournament takes place from  January 2–5.
  • Referees must be in  Lund no later than 21:00 on January 1.
  • Games on January 5 are mainly finals.  (Most referees are done by 12:00.)
  • The last final on January 5 is played around  16:00.

Where

  • The tournament is held in  Lund, Sweden.
  • Nearest train station:  Lund Central Station.
  • Nearest international airport:  Copenhagen Airport (CPH)(Direct train from the airport to Lund Central Station.)

Games

  • Referees officiate  6–7 games per day during the first 3 days.
  • On the final day, referees usually officiate  1 game.
  • Age groups:  U11 to U23 for both boys and girls, plus a separate  wheelchair competition.
  • Referees are assigned a  mix of games, including the youngest categories.
  • Game durations:
    • Older categories:  2x15 minutes
    • Youngest categories:  4x6 minutes
  • Tournament rules are available on the  Lundaspelen website.

Accommodation

  • Options:
    • School (free of charge, bring your own sleeping gear)
    • Hotel (Hotel Lundia) – additional cost applies  (more info upon registration)
  • Hotel rooms: mainly  double roomstriple rooms upon request.
  • If no roommate is specified, you will be placed with a suitable person. 

Payment

  • Payment is made  per game  - 110 SEK.
  • Payment methods:
    • Bank transfer for European referees  (2–3 weeks after the tournament)
    • Cash (SEK) for referees outside Europe  (on the final day)
  • No travel compensation is provided.

Food

  • All referees receive a  meal card valid for breakfast, lunch, and dinner.
  • Meals are served in schools across Lund.  (Referees staying at the hotel get breakfast at the hotel.)

Transportation

  • All referees receive a  bus card valid for:
    • City buses in Lund
    • Buses outside Lund when needed to reach gyms

3PO and Referee Instructors

  • The tournament offers  development opportunities for referees.
  • 2–3 experienced instructors provide feedback in the gyms.
  • Opportunity to officiate in  3PO (three-person officiating) – indicate interest in your registration.
  • We aim to assign  some 3PO games, but  cannot guarantee it.

Gear

  • All referees receive a  Lundaspelen referee jacket.
  • You must bring your  own referee gear. You may wear  any referee shirt .
  • Shorts are not allowed while officiating.

Referee Selection

  • More applications than available spots – selection is based on:
    • Previous participation
    • Refereeing level
    • Balance between countries and ages
  • No guaranteed spot upon application.  Do not book any tickets  until you receive  confirmation via email by December 1 .
